  • Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Hippolytus and Tertullian represent for many the high water mark of the no-nonsense, hard-hitting apologists that challenged the Roman paganism of their day.  Their writings express the desire to keep the Gospel pure from not only Rome, but quasi-religious influences such as Gnosticism and other sects.

  • There are many liberal theologians who are found of saying that Jesus was a "man" who was later deified by his followers, and that he never claimed, or was worshipped as God while he was alive.  What did the early church believe about Christ's nature and being?

  • When was the Old and New Testaments codifed?  Who "picked" which books were in the Bible, and which were not?   Were some books suppressed?  What about the Apocrypha which is accepted by many Roman Catholics?  All these questions are important to understanding why the Bible is reliable and relevant today.

  • Before there was a "written" and accepted New Testament, there was the verbal preaching of the apostles.  The greek term used is "Kerygma" meaning "preaching".  Can we piece together the highlights and particulars of the apostolic message, based on what we find in the Bible?   Can we determine, for example, what Paul verbally preached at various churches when we don't have transcripts of those messages?

  • A closer examination of all of the Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament, as well as their fulfillment.  Beginning with Genesis 3:15-  the "Seed of the Woman".

  • Genesis is a hotly disputed book.  Skeptics are fond of saying that the book was a compilation of middle-eastern mythologies, and redacted by various writers (the JEDP documentary hypothesis).   However, Genesis, as sacred literature provides a rich picture of the story of the redemption of mankind.

  • Buddhism is a multi-faceted belief system that can be a theistic, with a devotion to Buddha, or non-theistic, as in its "Zen" variation.  Many Christians see parallels in its basic philosophy to Christianity.  Are they compatible?  Are they mutually exclusive?

  • Much of American Christianity has been overshadowed by the hucksters of the "get rich quick" ilk, who have tried to integrate their personal greed into the theology of the church.  This is dominated by the "Name it-Claim it" prosperity preachers who literally teach that their faith is a means of financial gain.

(Jude 6)
